League of Legends fans hoping to attend the 2026 World Championship in New York have run into massive ticket prices after the first sales wave. While Riot Games introduced a Fan First drawing system to give verified fans an early opportunity to buy tickets, many seats quickly appeared on resale platforms for several times their original value.
Some of the most expensive listings have reached eye-watering amounts, leaving many fans frustrated and hoping Riot’s promised second ticket wave will offer a fairer chance.
Ticket resale prices reach extreme levels
The 2026 League of Legends World Championship will take place from October through November at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Shortly after the initial sales, resale platforms became flooded with listings.
Some luxury suite packages have appeared for as much as $169,000, while even upper-level seats have been listed for around $1,860. These prices are far beyond what most fans expected and have sparked criticism across the League of Legends community.
Many players argue that genuine fans are being priced out while ticket resellers profit from limited availability.
Riot responds to fan concerns
Riot Games confirmed that its Fan First drawing system selected verified accounts for early ticket access. The company also acknowledged community concerns surrounding ticket scalping.
To help more fans attend the event, Riot has announced a second wave of general-admission tickets that will go on sale in August.
The developer also stated that it is investigating the resale situation and exploring possible measures to reduce scalping.
Rumors suggest the first sales wave included only a limited number of general-admission tickets, but Riot has not confirmed those claims.
League of Legends keeps expanding in 2026
Despite the ticket controversy, Riot continues to expand the League of Legends universe throughout 2026.
League of Legends Classic will bring back several nostalgic features, including:
- Original champions.
- The classic Summoner’s Rift.
- The old Runes and Masteries system.
- A Season 3-inspired Mastery tree.
The franchise has also grown beyond the MOBA.
The Riftbound trading card game received the Spiritforged expansion in February, followed by Unleashed in May. Meanwhile, 2XKO, Riot’s fighting game, launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in January alongside its Season 1 update.
Riot also continues to invest in major esports leagues such as the LCS and LCK while preparing for another World Championship.
