Pokemon GO’s biggest celebration of the year has officially begun, and trainers have a limited-time opportunity to add three highly sought-after Pokemon to their collection without spending a cent. As part of the game’s 10th anniversary celebrations, Global GO Fest 2026 introduces free access to Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, and the long-awaited Zeraora.
The event runs for just two days, making it one of the most valuable limited-time events Pokemon GO has hosted in recent years.
GO Fest 2026 Schedule
Global GO Fest 2026 takes place on:
- July 11 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time
- July 12 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time
Outside of these hours, the featured content will no longer be available, so players have a short window to complete raids and research.
Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y Return
One of the biggest attractions of GO Fest 2026 is the arrival of both Mega Mewtwo forms through Super Mega Raids.
Players who defeat Mega Mewtwo in these raids will receive Mega Energy, allowing them to Mega Evolve Mewtwo into either Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y once enough energy has been collected.
Alongside the raids, trainers can complete the Genetic Mastery Timed Research, which also rewards valuable Candy to help progress toward a Mega Evolution.
However, there is one important catch.
You Can Only Choose One Research Path
The Genetic Mastery Timed Research requires players to make a permanent decision between Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y.
Once a path has been selected, the rewards are locked to that choice. Trainers hoping to obtain both Mega Evolutions should participate in Super Mega Raids during the event to collect additional Mega Energy.
That makes raid participation especially important for collectors who want access to both forms.
Zeraora Is Also Available
GO Fest 2026 also marks the arrival of another fan-favorite Pokemon.
Players can unlock Zeraora by completing the Special Research story titled A Thunderous Discovery. Unlike the Mega Evolution research, this reward does not require players to choose between different versions, making it a straightforward addition to the event.
A Major Celebration for Pokemon GO’s 10th Anniversary
To celebrate Pokemon GO’s tenth anniversary, The Pokemon Company also hosted a special event in New York City’s Times Square. The celebration paid tribute to the game’s original 2016 reveal commercial and featured a unique Mewtwo with a Special Background, perfect IVs, and a one-in-twenty chance of being Shiny.
While that version remains exclusive to the anniversary showcase, Global GO Fest 2026 gives trainers worldwide one of the best opportunities yet to obtain Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Zeraora for free.
With only two days to participate, trainers who have been waiting to expand their collection will not want to miss this event.
