Black Ops 7 Players Will Receive The Replacer Operator at No Cost
Activision has confirmed that all Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 players will receive The Replacer Operator for free when Season 1 launches on December 4. The character, portrayed by Peter Stormare and long known as one of the franchise’s most recognizable marketing icons, returns once again—this time as a complimentary reward for every player.
A Classic Character Returns to Black Ops
The Replacer first appeared in the live-action marketing campaigns for Black Ops 2, quickly becoming a fan favorite thanks to Stormare’s charismatic performance and the character’s unusual job: “replacing” players in their real-life obligations so they could keep gaming. Although The Replacer has appeared many times since, he wasn’t playable until Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode. He later returned in Black Ops 6 as part of a paid bundle.
In Black Ops 7, Activision is giving the Operator away as a token of appreciation to the community. The new version of the skin features the familiar black suit and tie, along with a Black Ops “7” pin to match the game’s latest installment.
Following Controversy Over Canceled Carry Forward
The announcement comes after mixed reactions to Activision’s decision to cancel Carry Forward for Black Ops 7. While Double XP Tokens, Gobblegums, and some Operator Skins from Black Ops 6 made the cut, the majority of previously purchased cosmetics could not be brought into the new title. Players who invested in older bundles were understandably disappointed.
Offering The Replacer for free now appears to be one way Activision is rebuilding goodwill heading into Season 1.
Season 1 Brings New Maps, Weapons, and Returning Classics
Season 1 will also deliver a substantial amount of content across Multiplayer and other modes. Alongside new Operators and weapons, Treyarch is bringing back several fan-favorite maps, including:
- Standoff
- Meltdown
- Fringe — arriving as part of the mid-season update
The Season 1 roadmap outlines an extensive set of additions, reinforcing Activision’s push to give Black Ops 7 a strong start as post-launch support begins.
