With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 set to release on Friday, November 14, Activision has revealed new details about the PC version of the game, including a powerful new feature that will give PC players an edge — sub-frame mouse polling.
Sub-Frame Mouse Polling: A New Level of Precision
The newly introduced sub-frame mouse polling system will allow the game to read mouse inputs more frequently, leading to faster and more accurate aiming. This system essentially reduces input latency, even by a few milliseconds, resulting in smoother and more consistent aiming performance.
While Call of Duty titles are known for their precise shooting mechanics, this new feature marks a major step forward in responsiveness for competitive PC players. It’s exclusive to the PC version at launch, ensuring that high-end mouse setups can make full use of the technology regardless of a player’s frame rate.
Over 800 Customization Options and FSR 4 Support
In addition to the precision improvements, Black Ops 7 will include over 800 individual settings, giving players control over graphics, input, and gameplay customization. The game will also launch with support for AMD FSR 4, along with other upscaling and frame-generation technologies to improve both visual fidelity and performance across a wide range of hardware.
Activision has emphasized that Black Ops 7 will “run on most hardware,” maintaining solid performance without sacrificing image quality — a notable improvement for players with mid-tier systems.
Optimized for PC Handhelds
Another key highlight is optimization for PC handhelds such as the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X. Treyarch Studios has adjusted UI scaling and legibility for smaller screens while ensuring that the game remains smooth and visually clear, marking one of the first Call of Duty titles to explicitly support handheld PC gaming.
Pre-Load Details and Removed Bonus Content
Fans who have pre-ordered Black Ops 7 can begin pre-loading on November 10 at 9 AM PT, giving them a head start before launch. However, Activision has also announced the removal of the Reznov Challenge Pack from Black Ops 7 pre-orders. The content will remain usable only in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone, following the publisher’s decision to redesign the reward system for this year’s release.
