Players will not have to wait much longer to test Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, as new details from the Xbox Store have confirmed the start dates for the game’s highly anticipated multiplayer beta. The listing outlines when players with early access can jump in, as well as when the open beta will be available to all.
A Follow-Up Years in the Making
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is Activision’s next major entry in its long-running first-person shooter franchise, and it is positioned as a direct follow-up to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 from 2012. Widely regarded as one of the best titles in the series, Black Ops 2 left behind an enduring legacy. Now, fans will once again step into the role of David Mason, with the return of iconic villain Raul Menendez, in what Activision describes as the most “mind-bending” Black Ops installment yet.
Excitement has been building for months as players speculated on when Activision would launch the beta, particularly after EA’s Battlefield 6 ran its own successful open beta. Thanks to the updated Xbox Store page, fans now have their answer.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta Dates Confirmed
According to the listing, the early access beta will begin on Thursday, October 2, 2025. This first wave is exclusive to those who pre-order the game. Just a few days later, the open beta will launch on Sunday, October 5, 2025, giving all players the opportunity to experience multiplayer ahead of the game’s release.
Beta schedule:
- Early access: October 2, 2025
- Open beta: October 5, 2025
While Activision has not yet confirmed the full duration of the test, the Xbox Store states that the beta will run for a minimum of two days.
Pre-Order Rewards and Content at Launch
Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 include the Reznov Challenge Pack, which unlocks the SOG Reznov Operator Skin in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, along with two additional themed skins. Players must redeem the pack by November 14, 2025—a date widely believed to be the game’s official release.
The Xbox Store description also confirms that Black Ops 7 multiplayer will ship with:
- 16 core 6v6 maps
- 2 large-scale 20v20 maps
These maps will cover a wide variety of battlegrounds, from neon-lit futuristic Tokyo cityscapes to frozen military installations across Alaska. The game will also debut a new Omnimovement system, designed to expand player mobility and tactical decision-making, paired with a cutting-edge arsenal of weapons.
What to Expect from the Beta
Details on the exact maps and modes available during the beta remain unannounced, but more information is expected during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, where Black Ops 7 is set for a major showcase reveal. Fans can expect Activision to highlight the game’s new features, multiplayer systems, and perhaps even a closer look at how the Omnimovement system changes the pace of combat.
With anticipation running high, October promises to be a major moment for the Call of Duty community, giving players their first hands-on experience with what may be one of the most ambitious Black Ops titles to date.
