Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Fans Call for Expanded Nuketown Map

Despite new modes and variants, players want the iconic map to finally grow in size.

The beloved Nuketown map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has once again captured the spotlight—this time for what it lacks. Fans across the Call of Duty community are urging Activision and Treyarch to expand the legendary map, which has remained largely unchanged in scale since its 2010 debut.

While Nuketown made its official return to Black Ops 6 on November 1, just one week after the game’s release, it was soon followed by the popular Nuketown 24/7 playlist. The map later received a significant gameplay tweak in Season 3 with the arrival of Chaos Nuketown on April 14, offering a 10v10 variant with increased score limits and extended match times. The mode quickly became a hotspot for double XP grinding due to its chaotic, close-range layout.

But not all feedback has been positive.

Reddit user Stegosaurus69, along with many others in the community, is calling for a more ambitious rework: one that opens up Nuketown’s surrounding houses and its iconic main road. The goal? More breathing room for gunfights and a solution to long-standing spawn-trap issues that have plagued the map for over a decade.

“I’d love to see the other houses opened up, or even a version where the whole street is playable,” wrote one fan. “Spawn traps ruin the 10v10 mode.”

Another bold suggestion, pitched by Reddit user Refurbished1991, proposes an expanded version of Nuketown designed for massive 30v30 matches—a far cry from its traditionally compact design.

Some players have even suggested offering both the classic and expanded versions in separate playlists, giving fans the flexibility to choose their preferred Nuketown experience without compromising the legacy version.

What’s Next for Nuketown?

While no expanded version of Nuketown has been confirmed, players will have something fresh to look forward to with the upcoming Season 3 Reloaded update on May 1. The update will introduce Blazetown, a 420-themed twist on Nuketown, launching alongside the Blaze of Glory event.

New limited-time modes are also on the way, including Joint Operations, a chaotic Moshpit-style experience that rotates between five game modes in a single match. Unique modifiers like low gravity, third-person mode, and increased health will keep players on their toes.

Until an official announcement arrives, fans can only hope that the call for an expanded Nuketown reaches the devs—and that one of Call of Duty’s most iconic maps finally gets the room it deserves.
