The queen – Valheim Boss Guide

The queen

The Queen is the sixth main boss in Valheim, found in the Mistlands biome. Here’s how to prepare for and defeat this formidable adversary.

Step 1: Finding The Queen

To locate The Queen, you’ll need to find a glowing red Vegvisir in the Mistlands. This stone will mark The Queen’s location on your map.

  • Explore Infested Mines: These dungeons often contain a Vegvisir. Be prepared with your best food and weapons, as they are full of deadly Seekers.

Step 2: Portal Preparation

Once The Queen’s location is marked, travel there and set up a portal back to your base. This will allow you to quickly return if you die.

Step 3: Crafting the Sealbreaker

Unlike other bosses, The Queen isn’t summoned in the usual way. Instead, you need to unlock her arena using a Sealbreaker.

  • Collect Nine Sealbreaker Fragments: These are found in Infested Mines, encased in glass. Break the glass to collect the fragments.
  • Craft the Sealbreaker: Use a Galdr Table to craft the Sealbreaker. The recipe for the Galdr Table is:
    • 20 Yggdrasil Wood
    • 10 Black Metal
    • 5 Black Core
    • 5 Refined Eitr

Step 4: Equip a Feather Cape

The Queen’s arena is very vertical with many sets of stairs. A Feather Cape will allow you to safely jump to lower floors without taking damage.

Step 5: Armor and Weapon Preparation

Equip yourself with the best armor and weapons available. Recommended gear includes:

  • Armor: Carapace Armor set (Helmet, Breastplate, and Greaves)
  • Melee Weapons: Mistwalker or Jotun Bane for high damage output
  • Ranged Weapons: Staff of Embers for dealing with waves of Seekers
  • Shield: Carapace Shield for blocking her powerful attacks

Step 6: Food and Boosts

Eating the right food will maximize your health and stamina for the fight. Here are our recommendations:

  • Seeker Aspic
  • Lox Meat Pie
  • Salmon Roll

These foods will provide significant health and stamina boosts.

Step 7: Utilize the Resting Effect

Before heading into battle, ensure you have the Resting Effect by being sheltered or sitting by a fire. The Resting Effect provides:

  • +50% Health Regen
  • +100% Stamina Regen
  • +50% Skill Experience Boost

Step 8: Entering The Queen’s Arena

Head to The Queen’s location and use the Sealbreaker to unlock the door to her Dvergr prison.

Step 9: Combat Strategy

The Queen has a massive health bar of around 12,500 and deals high damage. Here are some tips to help you in the fight:

  • Dodging and Blocking: Her scythe-like appendages deal significant damage. Use dodge rolls and block with your shield effectively.
  • Dealing with Seekers: She will summon Seekers by roaring. Use the Staff of Embers to quickly clear them.
  • Avoiding Poison: Equip Poison Resistance Mead to mitigate poison damage. Avoid the poison pools she creates on the ground.
  • Using Eitr: Use food that grants Eitr, such as Seeker Aspic, and cast spells with the Staff of Embers to burn The Queen and her minions.
  • Healing: Keep Healing Mead on hand for quick recovery.
  • Wisplight: Equip a Wisplight to see her clearly, especially when she burrows and re-emerges.

Step 10: Fighting with Friends

Having friends join the fight can increase your chances of success. One can distract The Queen while the others attack from behind. If solo, kite her around the arena and use ranged weaponry for a safer, though slower, battle.

Step 11: Defeating The Queen

After a prolonged fight, defeating The Queen will reward you with her trophy, which you can place at the spawn altar. The Queen’s power grants increased mining speed and a 100% boost to Eitr regeneration.
