The Elder is the second boss in Valheim, found in the Black Forest biome. Here’s how to prepare for and defeat this towering creature.
Step 1: Armor Up
By this point, you should have access to better armor. Equip yourself with:
- Bronze Helmet
- Bronze Plate
- Bronze Leggings
- Bronze Buckler
Bronze armor will provide significant protection against The Elder’s attacks.
Step 2: Choose Your Weapon
The Elder is weak to fire, so utilizing fire-based weapons and attacks is highly effective.
- Melee Option: Use a Bronze Axe for close combat, paired with your Bronze Buckler for defense.
- Ranged Option: Use a Finewood Bow with Fire Arrows. The fire damage will be especially useful against The Elder.
Step 3: Food and Boosts
Eating the right food will maximize your health and stamina for the fight. Here are our recommendations:
- Cooked Meat
- Grilled Neck Tail
- Queen’s Jam
These foods will provide significant health and stamina boosts.
Step 4: Utilize the Resting Effect
Before heading into battle, ensure you have the Resting Effect by being sheltered or sitting by a fire. The Resting Effect provides:
- +50% Health Regen
- +100% Stamina Regen
- +50% Skill Experience Boost
Step 5: Summon The Elder
Once you’re fully prepared, head to The Elder’s marked location on your map. You’ll find a Mystical Altar there.
- Offer Three Ancient Seeds: These can be obtained from Greydwarf Brutes, Greydwarf Shamans, and in chests found in the Black Forest.
After offering the Ancient Seeds, The Elder will be summoned, and the battle will begin. Be ready to dodge his root attacks and use the pillars around the altar for cover.
