Ashlands update comes with some issues – Valheim

Hello Valheim Adventurers,

We wanted to give you an update on the latest Valheim patch, including updated Guides and even the attempt to get a server for the community running. We first attempted to play locally with the team to look at the changes and get used to the keybinds again before we went full into the game for you guys. Sadly, this adventure has to be set on hold for now as some disturbing finds need to be looked at first. One of our team members is having a major problem after the GPU keeps spiking like a madman.

Unfortunately, the rollout of the Ashlands update hasn’t been as seamless as many players had hoped. Reports have been coming in about a range of issues, from desync problems to significant spikes in server hardware usage.

The good news is that Coffee Stain, the developers behind Valheim, are aware of these issues and are actively working to address them. While there isn’t an exact timeline for when a fix will be available, rest assured that they are on it, and we’ll keep you informed of any new developments.

Troubleshooting Tip: Uninstalling Mods

If you are experiencing issues, one potential solution is to uninstall any mods you may have installed. Sometimes, mods can conflict with new updates and cause unexpected problems. It could also be possible that some leftover files from mods are still in your server files.

Here’s a quick guide on how to do that:

  1. Navigate to Your Valheim Folder: Go to the directory where Valheim is installed on your computer.
  2. Locate the Mods Folder: Find the folder where your mods are stored. This is usually within the main Valheim directory or in a specific mods folder.
  3. Remove Mod Files: Delete the mod files or move them to another location outside the Valheim folder. You could also simply rename the mapfolder mods into “mods old” or something. BepInEx should not be loaded if there is any kind of mod active.
  4. Verify Game Integrity: Through your game launcher (e.g., Steam), right-click on Valheim, select Properties, and then go to the Local Files tab to verify the integrity of the game files. This ensures that any altered or missing files are replaced.
