You have probably heard from one of the many YouTubers that there are some ongoing rumours about Discord adding advertisements to the channels. While most statements are untrue, sadly, this does come to discord in the upcoming weeks. However, it’s not what you think. You will not see ads in your discord pages or if you would be streaming the game to your viewers they could see some ads.. no, nothing to worry about.
The ads are coming differently, in a fresh jacket called “quests”. When you log on to Discord, you might spot a shiny flashy popup showing up left under your screen. These quests are related to ingame activities and once completed, you get something as a reward for ingame. Think of skins, some extra potions or maybe a few days of free paid membership. These quests are coming from advertisers who paid for this to promote their game.
Now, you might be thinking, well, that ain’t bad? Well, yes. this ain’t a bad new way of obtaining some free ingame goodies as a reward, however, i would only like game ads, and not advertisements where i have to go somewhere actually to buy something.
If you are not interested in these quests, you can turn them off super easy. All you have to do is go to your user settings on Discord.
